The Anchor Inn
The Anchor Inn is situated in Oldbury on Severn. A very pretty South Gloucestershire village nestling on the original banks of the river. It has a long history dating back to the Iron Age and Roman periods.
lounge
The neatly kept lounge has an easy-going atmosphere, with beams and stone, a mix of tables including an attractive oval oak gate-leg, cushioned window seats, winged seats against the wall, oil paintings by a local artist and a big log fire in winter.
dining
The dining room at the Anchor is light and bright with double doors leading out onto the beautiful garden. With elegant country style décor and seating 40, it is extremely popular, so it is always a good idea to ring before you come or call and make a reservation. On Sundays we always offer at least two different roast meat dishes at lunch time.
You can dine informally in the garden – in the summer, lounge and public bar where the menu is the same as in the dining room. Although children are most welcome in the dining room and can have great fun playing in the garden, we do like to keep the pub side for adults only.
gardens
The Anchor has an extremely large garden to the side and rear of the pub, with plenty of garden furniture and room for children to run around. In summer, you can eat in the pretty garden when the well stocked borders, the hanging baskets and window boxes are at their best.
bar
The bar is everything that you would expect from a traditional country pub…warm and welcoming, cosy and snug. With photos from the past, fishing and farming bric a brac, all reminders of the pubs long history. Well kept traditional beers and a well stocked cellar add to that authentic country pub atmosphere.
boules
At the end of the garden there is the largest Boules area in the West where 30 local teams regularly play.
